Death

Friday, August 27th, 2004

Every once in a while, I think God is trying to tell me something. In the past two weeks, I’ve had someone die just one degree of separation from me. One of them was my aunt’s cousin Tom, who died in sawmill accident. The other was my friend Doug’s father, who died suddenly at home at age 60… no prior known health problems. Statistics requires that some events will overlap in time (though not often), but I still take the message to heart. Enjoy the people in your life *now*, because you don’t know when lightning will strike. So often we’re too busy to work on our relationships with those we love, and that’s backwards and a recipe for regret after someone has passed. So stop reading this, get up from your computer and go find someone to hug and tell them how much they mean to your life. We don’t say it enough. I’m going to do it right now…
