Just finished watching the first presidential debate. I think Kerry dominated the debate (as much as one can given the format), and Bush seemed defensive and on the ropes. His time-worn “waffle” theme in attacking Kerry just wasn’t playing well, especially after Kerry clarified his record in supporting the authorization to go to war.

It was also pretty telling that in the question regarding nuclear proliferation, Kerry stayed on topic while Bush drifted back to Iraq. It was a great debate, especially for Kerry because it got his message out, and provided clear differentiation from the current administration. I’m looking forward to the next debate.
