After Nymvayas escaped from the dungeons of the royal court she made her way to the temple in the sewers and successfully opened the portal to Neist, releasing S'renara Rannoch and her zombie horde.
Nymvayas was not killed by Anna when the party was in the temple and barely managed to escape the temple with their lives as the demarians and the zombies poured out of the gate.
Over a couple of days the zombies poured out and took over the city and then broke loose of the city.
The demarians were still consolidating their hold on the city while the first wave of zombies started shambling north.
