Synopsis:
Assynt 35, 1022 - late evening (Alternate Timeline)
In Darlock's Brewhall, the party converse with Rylock Graniteshist and Aethra about the current state of affairs topside. They learn that there are many roving bands of zombies that are under direct control of one or more Demarians or their collaborators. Not all of the populace is being converted into mindless undead, since Aethra has witnessed large groups of humans being rounded up and locked in warehouses. She does not have any ideas why the humans are being kept alive, or at least she does not choose to speculate.
Feiruhn, Ban and Triella form a plan to emerge from the subterranean brewhall and make for the park in Clovertoun where they hope to find the Nilhen sanctuary. Anna gathers high-proof bottles of alcohol from the bar and prepares molotov cocktails. She advocates holing up in the bar, just as the dwarves have done, and wait for the Demarians to come and get them. Despite her reservations, she is finally convinced that doing so is probably suicide, and she agrees to the others plan.
From the bar, Feiruhn follows after the golem, which he has named Mongo. The golem is directed to climb the stairs and step into the street. Upon reaching the surface, they find roughly a dozen zombies on the nearby street, and after some trial and error, find an effective method for Mongo to sweep the street to allow the party's passage to the park located on the other side of the city. Along the way, Triella tries to liberate the Chi from zombies to store in her ysyryl, but fails miserably. Nyria attempts to guide Triella's spells, using a language that no-one (even Feiruhn) recognizes. She succeeds in disabling four zombies with the spell, presumably storing their Chi in her own Ysyryl, and is momentarily flush from the effects of the Yosan. Despite Nyria's guidance, Triella is still unable to perform the spell on her own and clearly needs more practice.
Bandanna later asks Nyria what language she was casting with, and she tells them it is the long dead language of the Drayen.
Feiruhn directs the golem to use a pole to clear the streets as they walk toward the park. For the most part, this is quite effective, though the party accumulates a substantial following of zombies as they proceed. A little past the halfway point, the party is intercepted by Alyssa who directs her posse of zombies to devour the intruders! Triella is momentarily stunned by the bloodlust in Alyssa's eyes, but quickly recovers and helps fight beside Feiruhn, Anna and Nyria to disable the Demarian collaborator. With deft magical ability, Feiruhn seizes Alyssa's control sceptre, and her zombie posse quickly turn on her. A zombie feeding frenzy ensues.
With no further resistance, and the addition of a zombie control sceptre to their list of assets, the party makes it to the park. Inside, they locate the spot on the war memorial where Mazeriyan indicated the entrance to the sanctuary would be found. Feiruhn temporarily takes leave of his senses and assumes that the portal will open when someone attempts to walk into it. He bangs his head against the cool stone, and looks like a buffoon for his trouble. "Amateur" scoffed Bandanna. Tracing on the stone the sigil sketched by Mazeriyan, Bandanna opens a door into the sanctuary.
Talk to Selmoc, find a way home.
Party starts seeing discrepancies and carry overs from the other timeline to this one. Most notably:
Tegred still has the medallion/trinket that he was given by Nyria.
Anna has a quiver of obsidian arrows.
The charter has been altered, including the text: "hunting down of Nymvayas"
Oh.... and Jake is alive and waiting for us at the village.
