Dalin 25, 53
The party heads back to town with the ears they had taken off the mutants. Once there they find out it is to late in the evening to cash in the ears. In the mean time they head to an inn called the "Hoof and Mouth". The inn has sort of an unsavory look to it (there are several unconcious barflies face down at the bar), but it is open and serving so the party takes tables in the main room. Varien works to loosen up the remaining clientele by buying several rounds for the house. During this he also works on loosening the tongue of the barman.
Ayronn starts sings songs looking to find a couple that will loosen up the crowd. After striking out on several tries he settles into "Oklahoma" and "Rawhide".
Safiria mentions having to powder her nose and steps out of the inn. She comes back about twenty minutes later trailing a (proverbial) thundercloud. She is uncommunicative about her adventure and proceeds to have several stiff drinks on Varien's tab.
Varien proceeds to pump the barman for information and comes up with several gems:

The barmen had "used" the firestone twice, both instances where the town needed defense.
The warriors of Hastalon are showing signs of mental conditioning.
The warriors of hastalon started getting really aggressive after the spring thaw.
During the conversation Crash slips out of the bar saying "That he needed some air". No one really take note of that until they he that had left his axe in the inn. This peaks the interest of several members of the party who proceed to follow him to the courtyard where the Firestone is kept. When they catch him Crash says that he has learned some things from the stone but it would be better to relate it indoors. Safiria, who is by now quite sloshed, is carried back to the inn.
Crash relates that the stone told him several things:

That there were three stones in the Dwaven Hold before it was destroyed.
One of the stones was destroyed with the fortress, it is theorized that the destruction of the stone was the cause of the earthquake that occured when the fortress was destroyed.
There is a third stone, buried deeply within the fortress. It will be unreachable without the stone in Arn.
The Firestone is in Arn by choice. It has agreed to help the people of Arn.
The firestone is willing to be moved after the threat to Arn is removed.
The party turns in for the night.

Varien and Crash go to see the firestone again. Varien asks how to help Crash make more warforged and the stone replied "Learn to work the forge"
The rest of the party goes to see Joon at the cattlemen's hall. The party collects 200 gold from Joon and has some polite conversation. Joon seems more amenable to the party in general.
After the party gets back together they decide that talking to the local Elven representative would be productive. Lucius arranges a meeting. At the meeting, the elf requests that [[Dalnor/Characters/Rhogar|Rhogar] not attend. The elf still has a large chip on his shoulder from when the elves were a subservient country to the dragons. Crash and Rhogar wait outside.
The elf relates the following:

Hastalon started getting aggressive in the spring.
The elves have a safehouse in Hastalon.
The elves would have no problem in the party disrupting Hastalon and reducing them as a threat.
There is a side conversation about Lord Thunderhead.
There is also a discussion on Norn. If the surface of Norn was overrun and Norn was driven underground, all trade routes into Norn would be forced to go through Hastalon
Party heads to Mormoon

When the party gets to the southern edges of town, the party is picked up by the town guards and escorted directly to the councilman's hall.
Rueben Wheelturner, the town council and Moagrim Thundershock and in attendance. Also several "trade representatives" are in the meeting hall, the party recognizes them as representatives of the Raven and Crown. Rueben lays it out that he is very annoyed at the party dragging Mormoon into a conflict that they were trying to stay clear of. Safira works long and hard to deflect guilt or get Reuben to bite on the idea that Mormoon should become involved with the conflict to the south. In the end, Rueben takes the whole mess under advisement. Moagrim Thundershock does not speak during the entire meeting. It is noted that Moagrim feels insulted by Safiria's presumption that the dwarves could/would help make warforged.
After the meeting the party initially decides to stop at the dwarven tunnels and are stopped at the entrance because the dwarves will not admit Safiria. The party decides to visit the Raven and Crown instead.
At the Raven and Crown, the party is led into a space that resembles a surgical theater. There is a harsh interrogation where the interrogators press the party on why they did not fulfill their contract. The Raven and the Crown also expresses disappointment in that Alex did not attempt to fulfill the contract more vigorously. The interrogators state that they retreived the smoke themselves based on the information gleaned from the prisoner the party sent back and a runner that had come from Norn. The interrogators then state that the party owes them three bodies because they had to do the work themselves. The party beats back several of these accusations. After some harsh discussions, the Raven and Crown agrees to hire the party again "if work appropriate to the party's temperment" can be found.
Crash and the rest of the party go to see Moagrim Thundershock. Safiria goes to see Rueben to update him on the situation in the field.
Crash and the party speak to Thundershock. He is willing to provide limited assistance based on support from the firestone, if the some damage warforged shells can be found and how much production can be shifted to producing warforged. The party then heads back to the inn. Moagrim Thundershock also states that there had been some sort of accident or disaster in Norn. He is planning on sending down a dwarf named Pilar to scope out the situation and report back. He asks/encourages the party to allow Pilar to accompany the party on their next journey south. The party agrees to escort Pilar as far south as the outskirts of Norn. The party heads back to the bar with Pilar in tow.
Safiria stops to update Rueben Wheelturner on the change of events in Norn. They have a short meeting and then she leaves the council hall.
