Searching through the tunnels the party finds evidence of Safiria: Eldritch blasted bodies. After this point her tracks are easy to follow.
The party follows her tracks into an intersection where scavengers had come through and taken the bodies. The party has to cast about for a while to find her trail. After the intersection it is evident that Safiria was not feeling well, she was meandering about in the tunnel a bit and not moving with as much determination as before. the party starts to become concerned that she is being affected by the congealed smoke.
The party continues to follow Safiria and sees a point where Safiria had turned toward a side tunnel, taken a step in and a step out several times before being suddenly dragged into the room. Where the drag marks end, there is evidence of a fierce struggle and Safiria dragging herself back to the main tunnel.
The party enters into a network of intersections and sees that Safiria has been through this area several times. The tracks show her entering and exiting several of the tunnels several times. Because of this the party has a difficult time determining which way she had gone. After scouting out several of the tunnels, the party decides to enter a tunnel the Safiria had shown a great deal of interest in.
The party hikes down the tunnel and finds a myconid colony. The colony has pulled back to an area of the caves that is not coated in the necrotic seepage. Verian has a telepathic conversation with the myconid sovereign through spores the sovereign emits. Verian learns that Sariria initially passed over the colony (presumably with her Spiderclimb). She then returned several times throwing "black smoke" at the myconids. The sovereign states that he/she will not allow the party to pass through their colony. Winyar uses his healing to remove the smoke corruption from one of the myconids that had been injured by Safiria. The myconids state that she had kidnapped one of the smaller myconids. The party thanks the myconids and heads back to the intersection to search for Safiria. They more easily track her when they find a set of tracks that show evidence of Safiria dragging something.
