The linking stone is an elven magical creation, and it is used to combine the magical strength of many mages for use by a single mage. Only the elves know how to make these stones, or even how to cast the underlying magic on which they are based. They appear as a black stone with elven writing on it.
Humans from Hebridonia have smuggled out linking stones from the elven magelands in the hopes of trying to understand how they work. The Demarians have also tried to steal linking stones for the same purpose.
The use of linking stones made the elven and human trap at Deansburgh in the year 1005. Without them, the Elven, Human and Nilhen mages would not have been able to banish the Demarian horde to oblivion.
